My sculptural works are figurative and abstracted which I sculpt in clay or wax and cast in bronze or a composite of materials that include pigment, metal, binders, stone and marble dust. My endeavour is to capture a subtlety in a pose; softness of skin, weight of flesh, sensuality, curves or strength; or simply how she reads or responds to a person. y technique is energetic and physical, using a wooden mallet for example to shape clay. The strikes are sudden and instantaneous, studied yet impulsive resulting in dynamic textural finishes; volcanic or rocky outcrop formations, landscapes in portraiture. Every force, every plane relates to every other direction. I believe that if the sculpture is to work it has to work before you have a chance to read it. The connection between unity and difference. The pieces never seeming complete, to appear stagnate yet remain vibrant, fluid, encrusted with energy and mystery. When I work it is spontaneous but it is equally considered, rather organic and intuitive in expression. I am a member with the Association of Sculptures of Victoria and work from Nyora Studio Gallery in Eltham, Victoria.
