About the ASV

We cooperate as an association to advance the practice of sculpture and the reputation and appreciation of sculpture and sculptors in the community. This is regardless of whether or not we make a living from sculpture and regardless of our preferred style or medium. To this end we support artists’ moral rights, we advocate a professional attitude to the production and presentation of work and encourage the artistic and intellectual stimulation of interaction amongst artists of all persuasions.
At a glance

The Association of Sculptors of Victoria Inc. aims to promote sculpture and sculptors. The Association recognises the diversity of style, technique, medium, scale and philosophy in the art and practice of sculpture. Membership ranges from hobbyists to professional sculptors.

The Association runs an annual exhibition offering members with more than ten years’ exhibition experience the Margaret Gunnersen and William Hoggan Thomas Memorial Award and Prize; and a prize to sculptors with fewer than ten years’ exhibition experience: the Tina Wentcher or Andor Meszaros Prizes on alternate years.

The Association also organises exhibitions as the opportunity arises for example the sculpture exhibition at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show and our participation in the Herring Island Summer arts Festival.

The ASV web site records all exhibitions since 2003. Individual member sculptor profile pages are generated from the sculpture database and from information supplied by the sculptors.

The Association has an entry in the Yellow Pages and can put people wishing to commission sculpture in touch with sculptors ready to do the work required.

Members cooperate to hold monthly meetings, workshops, demonstrations and exhibitions and generally support each other in their work.
