In a first for regional Victoria the Association of Sculptors Victoria are pleased to be presenting the Victoria Sculpture Prize. This 3-day event supported by Wellington Shire Council will be an opportunity for sculptors both local and from across Victoria to connect, network and exhibit their work in a creative regional location alongside the 2021 Archibald Prize. The festival style arts spectacle will open on Friday 12th November and run for the weekend featuring the best sculptors competing for major prizes across many categories, the best work will becoming public art in Wellington Shire. Artists applications close Monday 11th October and all works will be up for public sale during the event with part proceeds going to support Wildlife Victoria. Prizes include:
$20k Major acquisition- the winning landscape-scale sculpture will be part of the Wellington Shire Public Art Collection
$5k small wildlife sculpture acquisition - the winning sculpture will be part of the Gippsland Art Gallery collection
$1000 NON acquisitive prize for "Best Endangered Wildlife" The Gippsland "CARE" group
$250 Youth Encouragement Prize
$1k people's choice award non acquisitive prize
Utilizing the the new state of the art Port of Sale precinct for display and events such as sculpture art tours through the Sale Botanical Gardens, artists workshops, free children’s sculpture lessons, artists talks and more this event will be worth the day out.
