I love to make quirky animals with a twist, with a side serve of humor- for people who like something different. 

My animals come to life in my studio in the Dandenong ranges, a little down the hill from our house, in the middle of the bush.

I love spending time in my studio, and discovering what the material will bring me that day. Sometimes that is exactly what I planned, and sometimes it is a total surprise. I love how the process brings me revelations that I can build on later.

I have been a maker all my life- from making funny things in bread dough at the kitchen table as a child, all through to training as an Art teacher, and learning a wealth of techniques. Aside from teaching I created work in clay and stone- only limited by time and the realities of life Moving to Australia, and living on a farm has been very inspirational to me, and I surrounded my self with many animals. This is where often my inspiration comes from- as the Animal world is endlessly attractive to me- and is the ideal way for me to translate emotions and experiences into tangible, visible images. My sculpture reflect how I experience life, incorporates movement and this way tells a story. Although anyone has their personal interpretation seeing my work I am often surprised how similar the human experience is, which I hope brings an emotional connection between the work and the observer.  

When creating Art, my mission is not to depict life, but to reflect on life, and how I experience it- I feel a need to show people how I see things and how they move me- to achieve this I need to exaggerate what I see to translate the feeling, which is how my animals are bringing joy, despair, wonder, - emotion- into my sculptures.
