Jenny Reddin bio
Jenny Reddin is a Melbourne-based artist and sculptor whose practice is grounded in a sustained exploration of architecture, structure, and spatial dynamics. Working primarily with metal sheet and bar, she creates forms that suggest both organic and human presence, activating their surroundings and inviting a physical and perceptual engagement from the viewer.
Central to Reddin’s practice is an investigation into the tension and harmony between natural and constructed systems. Her work frequently incorporates modular cube elements, assembled into seemingly gravity-defying configurations that challenge conventional readings of balance and stability. These compositions appear to hover, cascade, or disperse across space, evoking natural formations such as root systems, climbing vines, or fractured geological structures. Through this interplay, she positions industrial materials within a visual language of growth and movement, collapsing distinctions between the engineered and the organic.
Conceptually, these works operate as metaphors for broader environmental and societal conditions, reflecting on the fragile equilibrium between human intervention and natural processes. The precision of fabrication is counterbalanced by an implied sense of flux, suggesting both resilience and instability.
Reddin’s practice is defined by a commitment to clarity of form and conceptual rigour. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in collections throughout Asia, America, and Australia.
