Anna Lloyd-Parker short bio

Artists Bio: Anna Lloyd-Parker

Anna Lloyd-Parker is an emerging artist based in Nipaluna Hobart, Tasmania. She focusses primarily on figurative sculpture.

Anna’s artistic practice is deeply informed by her background as an Occupational Therapist, where she has worked with children. This experience has shaped her exploration of how our sensory systems and brains work together to create emotions and meaning. Her early studies in anatomy and physiology, combined with years of observing movement and behavior in children, sparked a fascination with the ways we embody our experiences. Our body movements, posture, expressions, and actions serve as windows into our memories, emotions, sense of identity, and the stories passed down through generations.

These themes are central to Anna’s sculptural work. She strives to distil her personal experience of a subject through hand-built sculptures, intentionally using form, texture, and line to convey emotion and meaning. Working with water-based clay on handmade wire armatures, Anna creates pieces from life models, photographic references, and memory. The lost wax method is then used to cast her sculptures in bronze. Patina and texture are used intentionally to show the artists hand and to accentuate the character of the piece.

Passionate about collaboration, Anna is eager to engage with others on artistic concepts and technical skills. She is motivated by the belief that art becomes truly meaningful when shared with the wider community, and she strives to create work that can be appreciated and enjoyed by all.
