Emilia Storm was educated at the Victorian College of the Arts -graduationg in 1995. She teaches three dimensional Art at Melbourne University Early learning Centre. Latest exhibition title: Nature Invasions; Furling Unfurling. An art happening residency explores emotions of going inwards and outwards during a pandemic, this era of foreboding climate change and nature unrest. Visualisations of cocooning and transformation, form a new nature inspired series of artworks wearable art and sculptural lights, investigating contrasts and contradictions of making art and design with dark themes. Fires, floods, disease and social isolation, inspire these pieces to voice collective grief; our furling and unfurling.
Emilia Storm works across many platforms including a very large musical playground sculptural installation at Melbourne’s Docklands called Harmony Garden. Her early work focused on cast aluminium installation art with recorded music and then cast bronze objects with found object installation. Current work aims to merge art and design with the achitectural space. She is predominately focusing on environmental themes. Emilia has a passion for colour and metal and makes large anodised aluminium works. Her work is poetic and vibrant yet hard hitting and emotionally gripping.
