Years of over-fishing Southern Bluefin Tuna have left them critically endangered. The metal pipes are a symbolic representation the metal cages that the juvenile tuna are farmed in to reach marketable sizes. If the pirate fishing of these ocean beauties does not stop the only ones left will be those taxidermy mounted as trophies like the base of my piece represents.
