Eligius is one of my few human form sculptures. I imagine him on a journey full of peril, protecting a horse from an unseen enemy. This idea became more and more poignant during his year of unforeseen influences from outside that turned out to be an invisible danger. Ciment fondu is an amazingly versatile material that works well worked in mould work, and in building up. In this sculpture I have used both techniques- leading to a varying surface effect. Placed outside it will acquire and interesting patina brought on by the elements. This way it never stops evolving.
