EQUUS MACHINA Horsepower reclaimed This hybrid form, half Horse, half steam engine, reimagines the industrial age through the fragile skin of recycled cardboard. Once a symbol of freedom and raw strength, the horse displaced by the iron machine that reshaped landscapes and fuelled industry. Here the two are fused together, both rival and reflection. I use recycled cardboard, what was once packaging becomes sculpture, a sustainable practice that critiques the cycle of consumption driving environmental decline. Both horse and steam engines are ghosts of progress, yet in cardboard form they remind us that all engines run down, and all strength eventually returns to the earth.
