My name is Kerriann, I started creating my sculptures in 2017 when I discovered the fun to be had using a Plasma Cutter – I haven’t looked back since. I am completely self-taught and with a little patience, a steady hand and a lot of trial and error my art has continued to evolve, and I am continuing to push the boundaries of what I am able to create using my tool of choice, the Plasma Cutter. The intention of my art is to share it with as many people as possible. From the very beginning, my vision was to create individual sculptures for clients that capture their story. I draw inspiration from photos and listen to the client’s story to create a perfectly individual piece. When a client presents with a fabulous concept it pushes the boundaries of creativity and often the end piece is beyond both the client and my expectations. I love the idea of taking a material that is hard, industrial and ridged looking and creating a soft flowing design that has movement and connects with the viewer. I draw a lot of my inspiration from nature and especially our beautiful native Australian flora and fauna. Each globe is designed individually with the aim to evoke a sense of peace, harmony and wonderment, sculptures that not only look amazing in the daylight but transform into a mesmerizing light display by night. The process for each sculpture starts with a solid sphere. I hand draw the design onto the sphere in chalk and once I have fully drawn the design and happy with the layout, I then move onto cutting. I use a handheld Plasma Cutter - BOC SmoothCut 40. Globes range in size form 700mm up to 1500mm all hand drawn and cut to be unique. All of my globes are hand cut from 6mm thick mild steel, (although I do use other mediums such as Corten or Stainless Steel if it suits the design).
