A feature of my sculptural practice for many years has been these distinctive and unique ‘Pods’. Inspired by nature, they have evolved over time into many different forms and have reference to renewal, hope and regeneration. ‘Megapod’ is the biggest Pod I have ever made. It sits upon a beautifully shaped base which was part of a rock crushing machine that I found in our local scrap metal yard. A lot of the material in this piece has been recycled. Making artwork from ‘waste’ materials helps create conversations and awareness about recycling and sustainable practices, which I find very satisfying.
