This sculpture was an idea/inspiration, that came to me while touring Europe in 2016. I wrote and drew a basic plan for a contemporary punk rocker Medusa, while being stuck delayed on the runway in Zurich, shortly after visiting Gruyère , the home of H.R. Gieger. Unfortunately , he had died a month or 2 prior to my arrival . But with a visit to his gallery / museum, and a big tour of all things gothic, I was primed. On getting back to Australia , I decided to put it on the back burner until I thought I was good enough to do it a little justice. . So, in July of 2020, after a friend “Rachel “ posed for me, I got to work. Almost conveniently , it was the middle of Covid lockdowns and I had nothing else to do with my time except focus on this sculpture.
