This piece is hand built from a robust, fine stoneware clay that was able to be wood fired for days. No glaze was applied, so the slight glass/earthy affect came from the ash of the wood burnt in the kiln. It's classic, yet modern form has a rare finish. Wood fire technique can be dated back to the 5th century.
