   Sculpture Description

Different countries, different generations, different voices – these are the springboards for my recent body of works and these two works are a selection. Identified by country of birth, distinguished by language, separated by 25 years,  three generations of women in my family are unified by a single form, modelled on my mother - grounded, the earth mother. (Born in Lithuania, my mother moved to Austria with her husband, where I was born. Following my father’s death my mother remarried and the family moved to Australia, where many years later my daughter was born.) Materials of the earth,  (bronze, clay and gypsum) have been used in creating the work, as well as a range of processes. Notions of birth, place of origin, travel, incarnation, separation and unity are embodied in the figures and vignettes – the journey, on going – the issues universal. My ideas are imbedded in my work, however viewers may like to consider the materials I use and objects I create to generate their own meaning.
