Crossed Section is a metaphorical work which uses the intricate patterning and form of a section of a myrtle beech tree to represent the natural world and glass to represent the destructive activities of humanity. Prior to its destruction the tree was a living record of its environment for hundreds of years. This work attempts to present its narrative as a way of raising environmental awareness in the viewer.
