After the bloodshed of the Second World War , children became the object for projections of hope. So, children born during the war in Europe were separated from the family and send to rural areas, billeted to families for up to 12 months . The idea was that these children would be nurtured back to physical and emotional health. This mother and her daughter are waiting to welcome the return of son and brother after an 8 months billet in Belgium.
