This is the plaster version of my entry last year called `Ripe`, a first edition bronze. `White Ripe` was poured for me by the foundry that produced the original bronze. After many studio hours sanding and painting `White Ripe` is born. She is luminous, smooth and pure… a fertility goddess inspired by the ancient Venus of Willendorf – the first sculpture ever to communicate women’s concerns and control over their lives, and now a contemporary celebration of female form, function and self- representation. Let us also enjoy our curvaceous, sensual selves, and revel in the beauty and magic and desire our bodies can provoke.
