A Southern Rock Lobster weaved from discarded ghostnet collected off the Port Campbell coastline. Created to raise awareness to the delicate balance of our marine environment with the effects of seismic testing and the marine plastics situation.

Judge's Comments MIFGS 2026

This sculpture is a thoughtful and effective transformation of discarded ghost net into a Southern Rock Lobster of striking presence. It is both visually engaging and environmentally important, drawing attention to the fragility of marine ecosystems and the impact of waste on the natural world. Its use of recovered material strengthens the work’s message and gives it both immediacy and relevance.
