Genesis portrays the birth of Australia. Opals, with the water trapped inside, are symbolic of the Australian land mass when covered by seas. As the seas receded the land was exposed. Joined by the strength of steel to the land, the Emu egg represents the fertility of the continent, bursting with new life.
