As a stone sculptor I found that many of my ideas were not suited to that medium, so working in Bronze had allowed me to expand my sculptural process. 'Willow' was created during lockdown, and she combines themes that I experienced during an extremely difficult time, such as strength and resilience, whilst still incorporating the feminine form, a theme that I am known for. Whilst researching the name Willow, I found that 'Willow' often implied elegance and grace, and that Willow trees are renowned for their strength and flexibility to survive strong storms. She had to be called Willow.
