These pieces are from a body of work exploring the journey of an extraordinary woman, Janina, who escaped from war-torn Europe and arrived in Australia in 1951. Here she carved out a new life for herself and her family. Janina was tenacious, creative, a homemaker, hard task master, lived a rich and challenging life and has left a legacy of loyalty, love and endurance. She died in 2018 in her 96th year. Janina was my mother.
