This bronze portrait of Afghan-Australian, Mosa Burnside. During portrait sittings, this artwork was guided by discussion of legacy, displacement, structure, and attachment. Coarse and rigid lines framing Mosa’s character suggests a complexity to his identity, far more than the artwork title alludes to. I invite your reflection on resilience and enduring bonds that transcend borders. I created this piece by sculpting foam, inserting the chain and then casting the foam into bronze with sand-casting techniques.
