Description

For me, 'Rebekah' represents discovery and family. I wanted to discover and learn the process of making a bronze sculpture - from clay, to wax, to bronze and all the steps in-between. With two sculptor ancestors, I was curious to know if they could ‘whisper’ technical secrets to me from the past ... is sculpting in my DNA, and could I too become a sculptor! This is my first bronze. Modelled from life. @ 1/4 life size. The pose shows the balance, flexibility and strength of my daughter. It sits on an African Walnut circular base. The wood came from family furniture made in Nigeria, Africa in the 1940's which has been reused and turned especially for this work.
