Description

In this piece, I have chosen to create a whimsical representation of an unlikely partnership: a dog carrying a small elephant on its back. This artwork is an exploration of the themes of broken pieces, burden, support, and the ways in which we can work together. The dog, often a symbol of loyalty and companionship represents the steady resilience of life, while the elephant, typically associated with memory and wisdom, signifies the weight of experiences that we carry with us. The materials used for this piece are as significant as the subject matter. Constructed from mosaic and recovered ceramics—fragments of once-whole objects that have been discarded or broken—the piece speaks to the beauty in imperfection and the idea that past objects, even when fragmented, can be transformed into something new and meaningful. These pieces, each with their own history and story, are carefully arranged to create a harmonious object of beauty. The process of repurposing these materials reflects a personal commitment to sustainability, reimagining discarded items and giving them new life. In this way, the artwork mirrors the idea of transformation, not only in the subject matter but in the materials themselves.
