I use the technique of handbuilding & reconstruction. Reconstruction synonymous with the concept of healing after the fire trauma. The koala was hand-built separately, as was the "carer's cradle. The animal is recovering from a bush-fire in this construction. The tap is a symbol for survival, much needed water. This species has a limited diet of Acacias & Melaleucas, koalas eat only 30 of the 600 eucalypts. Gum leaves are in & around the cradle, the surfaces & colours have been created with acrylics & glazes, the base is marble & the outer case is glass for protection. Koalas are losing their habitat, due to logging & real estate intrusion.
