Art begins in concious action: I grapple with the idea, the object, my hands, the material and tools and ..... The process doesn't end as therapy for the artist: an exhibition starts a life of communication and translation as the work defines an independant place in the world. For me 'Release the Dream' tells the story of carving and the release of the image from the wood; there is another story too - as the protagonist emerges from containment and enters the unknown. What this work will be in another place is a matter of translation and interpretation.
