Body twisting with limbs outstretched to the tips of its be-jewelled stems and delicate skeleton leaves, The Dancer is in the throes of a pirouette. It has been transformed from a dead palm tree flower pod into a new entity. One of a series of 'pod creatures' I am presently working on throughout 2021. I like to observe nature's spoils with a vision to develop them into new possibilities. Looking at shapes, patterns, textures, perceived movement, and personality, I then form the piece into what I see, using as much recycled material, natural and manufactured, as I can gather. The Dancer is on a rotating platform adding to its concept of movement.
