‘Sui Generis' extends my research on the complexities of multiplicity. Establishing parallelisms with nature, the work poses questions around identity and the collective. Throughout my ongoing use of pine needles, the work investigates the links between the individual and the group, the ties that bind us together. Each pine needle is unique and like no other. Approx. 80,000 Pinus Radiata’s fallen pine needles leaning on each other, and a monumental bronze pine needle function as a metaphor of the concepts of individuation, identity and group interaction.
