This sculpture is one of a series of seven pieces I named ‘Alien Tree Creatures’. It is formed from a seed pod of the Acacia Palm tree, which falls off after flowering. The pods take on an animalistic look much like that of an alien creature. My sculptures are often developed from observing natural forms and manipulating or enhancing them into figures of my imagination. Originally from Papua New Guinea, I have been a professional Painter and Sculptor for 22 years, sculpting for the past seven years, out of ‘nature’s discards’ and other throwaway materials with air-dried clay.
