Cetta Pilati short bio

Cetta Pilati is a sculptor specialising in traditional marble mosaic artwork. Cetta creates 2D and 3D pieces that are notable for their use of natural stone, traditional working methods and aesthetic sense. She creates each individual work through a meticulous labour-intensive process, which includes cutting each piece of marble by hand with the use of a hammer and hardie. Cetta’s work is a fusion of traditional technique and timeless contemporary design with a key focus on the quiet forgotten simplicity and tradition of ancient approaches to mosaic art making.

Cetta is one of a handful of artists in Australia working predominantly with marble mosaic and using ancient and traditional approaches and applying them to contemporary sculptural work.

Cetta is available for public, commercial and residential commissions for both her 2D works and 3D sculptures.
